The print has been signed by: The artist Robert Taylor, and Captain ROLLAND H. WHITED & Lieutenant Colonel ROBERT W. DEES. Rolland H. Whited served as the captain and pilot of the 34th Bomb Group B-17 Flying Fortress "Queenie" shown in the foreground of Company of Heroes. Whited flew 26 missions in B-24 Liberator and 8 more in B-17 bombers many against V-1 sites, chemical plants, and railway yards. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three Oak clusters. Robert W. Dees flew 31 combat missions against military and industrial targets in occupied Europe and Germany in both the B-24 and the B-17. Dees was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with five Oak clusters.
